I love cupcakes!

Happy New Year!

One of my resolutions is to blog more, try new projects, and bake more! Soooo all day yesterday I baked mini cupcakes, regular cupcakes and made that lovely cupcake stand. I made milk chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting yum! I think my favorite part of making cupcakes is decorating. I didn't just want to use just one type of sprinkle I used a few different kinds. I thought I would have a little photo shoot just for fun :) I collected some of my favorite teacups and my teapot and used them as props.

The other day I went to the cake and candy supply shop (which I love btw) and saw this plain white cardboard Wilton cupcake stand. I already own a metal one and and a plastic one but wanted to make my own and got inspired by one I saw online in a blog. I can't really remember where I saw it but it made in impression on me. I used some pretty scrapbooking paper, double sided tape or tags, and the plain cupcake stand. I just traced the parts and taped them and assembled the stand. I added some words to give it more whimsy. It was actually fun and easy.

Then I saw THIS tutorial over at Birds Party Blog and knew I had to make my own. I bought some heavy card stock in some pretty prints, downloaded the template, traced on the card stock, cut, glued (I used my handy glue gun for faster drying purposes) and I came up with these:

I also got the little strawberry cake topper from Paperglitter. If you go to her blog there's a place for FREE PRINTABLES, you can choose from a variety of cute cupcake toppers. I chose the strawberry, perfect for my set up.

Loved setting up my little cupcake shoot! It was something I've wanted to do for a while. Now off to eat some of those yummy cupcakes :)

birthdays

My niece Emma's 1st birthday party was on Saturday. My sister had bought her this huge party pack online with the theme of ladybugs. The only thing missing was a Happy Birthday banner. While doing my daily blog crawl, I saw this post by one of my fave bloggers. All Sorts is such a cute blog. Jenny posted the files up as freebies cause she's awesome like that! I downloaded the files, printed them on card stock, punched holes and strung them up. I loved how it turned out. I'm pretty sure I will use these again :)

I don't like coconut much...

BUT for some reason I love my mom's coconut and pineapple bundt cakes. She started by making the full size ones but a few weeks ago my dad bought her these small bundt pans for individual size bundt cakes and that's all she's been making. She makes a batch and takes them to work, at first she was just giving them to friends but then all her co workers were asking to buy in batches from her. Yes that's how good they are! I always tell her to leave me one and I'll pay her for it, she always says no but I always leave money for her. I told her I'm a customer too! I love serving mine with strawberry preserves right out of the oven...delicious!

planning

So today I decided that I needed to sit down and do some planning for Hand Born. I want to be more organized and prepared this year than the previous two years. I also knew I had to do it away from my house, otherwise I would get interrupted and distracted. I went to Starbucks, had my fave which is the shaken iced tea lemonade passion tea and a blueberry muffin. I sat outside, I felt the fall breeze and I loved it. Fall is my favorite season. Oh and yeah I got some work done :)

Hand Born

I've got 75 days to get ready for Hand Born! Yes I'm excited to announce that I will have a booth there this year again. I love this craft show!

I'm going to pause the commissioned work for the next 75 days so that I can focus on planning and getting ready for the show. I want to create some new handbag designs and new items in time for the show. I'm really excited and inspired!

Teacup Succulent Garden

This is such a lovely idea! I stumbled upon THIS blog Epheriell Designs and it inspired me and gave me a great idea of how to use all those lovely teacups I collect from my thrifting adventures!

I've been meaning to try to get some plants for my workspace/sewing area. The only problem with that is that my bedroom window faces the backyard and we have a porch overhang so not much sunlight comes in. However I've heard that succulents don't need much sunlight in fact they thrive in filtered natural light. I must make a trip to the garden store soon and then I'll have to post pictures :)

P.S. Check out the whole blog.

"Handmade style, indie art, design, and crafty resources" it provides lots of ideas, and inspiration, I will definitely be putting it on my favorites :)
