new owls in the owlery

I finally finished the rest of the owls I had started a while ago...Once I finished I realized how freaking cute they are!!! So I gathered them up for a class picture :)

This is them hanging out mingling talking to each other I mean after all they just met...plus they have to find a partner otherwise they will get lonely when they are given away.

Class picture! They were very well behaved...well except the zebra print and yellow one I have to keep my eye on that one...

These two are my favorites!

I think I might have to start an Etsy shop soon...

A few things

I kind of love sundays. They are either going to go two ways for me...lazy or productive...today was half and half. I tried organizing my craft supplies but realized I have too many! and it just gave me a headache. Instead I sat down in front of the tv and watched the Law & Order CI marathon while finishing off some projects.

BEFORE all that though I went to my parents and hung out with my mom for a bit...I visited my sister's crazy cockatoo Peak-a-boo...why do I say she's crazy? cause she thinks she's a cat now. She meows EXACTLY like one...haha I'm sure she picked it up from the stray cats it's just hilarious to hear her do it...oh and she loves being petted. She also likes to dance and talk all kinds of gibberish which really sounds like she's telling you off or something. Kosmo doesn't like her much, why you might be asking??/ cause she likes to chase him around the house yes he's a wuss and what!

I also took some pretty pictures of my dad's flowers...I wish I had inherited his green thumb :(

Now for some crafty things...

I had a few of these already sewn up but I just needed to finish them up...I'm thinking of giving them away in pairs. Cause they will get lonely by themselves don't you think??

oh and last but certainly not least I love this little flower pin I made out of ric rac it's my first attempt so I know it's needs some work but practice makes perfect...I think I'm gonna buy some more in different colors and make a bunch

too many projects!

So I've been at a creative projects standstill for a while now. It's not that I haven't had any inspiration, life just happened to interfere with my crafting. I have several projects that I started that I haven't finished. Does anybody else have this problem??? I KNOW that I have many projects I need to finish but when I get an idea or want to try a new craft I tend to start it and then that adds to my pile!

Anyway...

While I was looking for some tutorials online I found this great site called Instructables it has many how to tutorials for many cool things for crafts, food, games, tech, and home stuff. Just thought I would share the link cause I love this site!

Ok I'll get around to posting some pictures of some stuff I've been working on soon :)

How to Make a freaking Aram Sandwich!

So a few months ago I tried to do some research on how to make an Aram. You know those long rolls that they sell at the grocery store deli. Well I wanted to make my own. So I did what any other good Internet savvy person would do. I googled aram sandwiches and as you may see there are a lot of hits but not really many with pictures and step by step instructions. I NEED pictures. So anyway I decided to make my own tutorial on how to make them in hope that I would help someone like me who would be by any chance looking for a tutorial with pictures :)

INGREDIENTS: (these will vary depending on your preference)

NOTE: I usually do these about 8 hours in advance of when I'm serving them. What I usually do is make them the night before so they refrigerate overnight and serve the next day. They need to chill enough time in the fridge so that the roll stays together.

-Armenian Cracker Bread ( or Lahvosh) you can get this at your local grocery store or deli just ask. I get mine at Savemart for 2 dollars each flat. I usually buy just two.
-1 8oz packet of cream cheese ( you may or may not use the whole packet it just depends on how much you like cream cheese haha)
-deli ham (I've come to realize that this is the best kind of ham for this sandwich cause they are thin enough slices, that you can pile on a few. I specifically like Deli Select Ham)
-Romaine lettuce (chopped, but not too small, I sometimes also use spinach or regular head lettuce)

*as far as quantities of each go, take a look at the pictures and you will realize that it's really up to you on how much of each ingredient you will put on the sandwich.

*click on the picture for a larger view

Step 1: Spread the cream cheese over the flat bread as even and as much as you want with a small spatula.

Step 2: arrange the ham and the lettuce on top of the cream cheese horizontally. I like to put them in the middle. (Again put as much as you want it's really about your preference)

Step 3: start rolling the flat bread away from you making sure it's neatly rolled and a bit snug. I like the rolls to be smaller.

Step 4: once it's all rolled cover it with saram wrap and foil (I like to do both cause it keeps them more together) and refrigerate.

Step 5: cut in small slices and enjoy!

NOTE: These are very easy to make and you can put any ingredients you like. I'm going to try one with avocado, tomatoes and bacon. I usually put some swiss/provolone/cheddar cheese along with the ham. I've also have made a peanut butter and jelly aram that was super good! So as you can see it's really up to you. I guess it's cheesy but the possibilities ARE endless :)

new love...OWLS

I found the cutest way to use my fabric scraps. I got the original idea from a tutorial over at Moonstiches. I made my own pattern to fit the way I wanted them to be. It was easier to use colored felt with the cardboard and sew that onto the bottom instead of covering the cardboard first. I made these as gifts to mail to some friends. I think they are adorable and were easy and fun to make.

I also made a little drawstring bag to go with each of the two sets (2 owls per bag). I embroidered a small red heart and tied it with some ribbon and twine. I think it turned out really cute. It was also another easy project to do.

I'm working on some new ideas for some cloth dolls right now they are in the trial and error stage but I'm hoping to post a finished product in a few days.

COMING SOON: Tutorial: How to make a freaking Aram sandwich! (with pictures)

Intro

Hi!
I wasn't sure if I needed to write an introduction post cause I wasn't really sure what to say. I'm not very good at talking about myself, I can talk and talk and talk about other stuff but about myself eh...notsomuch.

My name is Sandra most of my friends call me Sandy. Do I have a preference? Not really. I am almost 30...haha ok so I'm going to be 27 this year and I was just quoting my sister...she was on the phone with one of her friends and I guess her friend asked her how old I was well the little brat said "oh she's almost 30" I just about had heart failure when I heard her say that! BUT I guess it's true and you know there's really nothing wrong with that except that I just don't want to grow up yet, that's all.

Well I LOVE LOVE LOVE crafts, all kinds I have what's called crafting A.D.D. I'm usually trying all kinds of different crafts. My new love is sewing. I don't have a sewing machine yet and I say yet because I'm getting one very soon! I also love to cook when I can. I am NOT the greatest cook and I only say this because I really don't cook often. I still go to my parents house for dinner almost every day. Nothing beats my mother's home cooked food. When I have the time and a good recipe I do enjoy the process. I just wish I would do it more often. BUT this might change because I'm going go be joining Weight Watchers and well I'm gonna start buying more groceries and actually use my kitchen. So you will probably see posts about all that stuff. Well did I say I don't like talking about myself??? I guess I do like to go off on random subjects sometimes.

Well now the purpose of this intro is to say why I created this blog. This blog is for all my crafty ideas, pictures, food trial and errors, venting, reviewing and showcasing great blogs and websites out there. So i hope you find something useful or entertaining or whatever!

Hope everyone is having a great middle of the week!
